Recent News About Me:
Born Jan. 6, 1919 in Texico, New Mexico to Ruth and Willis Wiggins. Died on March 31, 2005 in Sacramento of congestive heart failure. Survived by her loving husband of 64 years Woodrow M. Hutchison; daughter Peggy Shima of Encinitas. Mrs. Hutchison had a long list of accomplishments and degrees in the field of education. She had a Bachelor of Arts degree from Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico with majors in Business Adminstration and History and a minor of English. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Guideance, as well as credentials in General Administrative, Pupil Personnel Services, General Secondary and General Elementary Education. She completed her graduate work at CA State University Sacramento and the University of CA Davis. In 1971, Eva visited sixteen European Countries doing research to determine major changes in their curriculum. She compared her findings to the curriculum of the Grant Union High School District where she was employed as an adnistrator for over 30 years. Twenty-four years of her professional career were at Highlands and Foothill High Schools as Vice Principal and Dean of Women. Many young women experienced academic and social guidance from Mrs. Hutchison. She was viewed as a wise and worldy woman and knew how to function with grace and good judgment. They will always be greatful for her mentoring. She retired in 1980. She was a wonderful woman who was deeply devoted to her husband and family and who will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at American River College in the Banquet Room near the cafeteria on Friday, April 15, 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to a charity of your choice.
