Colleen Jeanine Bittick died Aug. 23, 2004, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 51 years old.
Born Jan. 30, 1953, in Seattle, Wash., she grew up in a military family and lived all over the world. She came to Davis when she was 19 years old to attend UC Davis, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. She worked as a program administrator at UC Davis for the past 29 years and lived in Davis for the past 32 years.
Her family described her as a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who never failed to put others before herself, especially with the care of her mother, whom she always put as her No. 1 priority.
She was preceded in death by her father Mark Bittick, in November 1993, and nephew Sean Stephens, in August 1994.
She is survived by her mother, Maureen Bittick of North Highlands; brother, Mark Bittick and his wife Shawn of Nevada; and sister, Roberta Stephens and her husband David of Michigan. She is further survived by her aunt, Birdie and her husband Jim of Ireland, and Norma Bittick of California. She leaves her nieces Juliet, Erin and Mariah; and nephews Branden, Michael, Robert and Zackary.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St., with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. today.
A funeral Mass will be said Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 200 W. 14th St. in Davis. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento.
